Question discoloration (blueing) from exhaust on rear bumper

Has anyone noticed any discoloration on rear bumper near tail pipe? I have 2004.5 600 6spd 4.10's and drove it on a long road trip. We were averaging about 75 - 80 mphs and pulled over to refuel. I noticed that the back bumper was discolored. Lots of black carbon on exhaust tip and bumper. I can only imagine what those exhaust temps are at. My truck is bone stock except for silencer ring and two holes drilled in bottom of air box. After washing the truck, we continued on our trip. I noticed that the bumper had signs of blueing. I do remember that during the second half of my trip i drove the truck hard varying speed up to 90 mph. Any ideas if this is normal or not. Note, we were travelig empty. Is this normal?

I also had the same problem. I put on the Megs tip from Gino's, and it helped but did not quite eliminate the problem. I went with the Megs because I liked the clean look of no clamps. I could probably slide it out a bit and tack weld it, but what soot still gets on there washes off so easily I haven't bothered.

I get it on mine, alot worse since I got rid of the muffler. Looks like some Nevr Dull would take care of it though. Went through a spell for about 1.5 weeks every time I was in a position where I could wash it it was raining, kind of took a set seems like.

Some like it,some say annoying. It offers NO performance gain.drilling the box MAY lower EGT slightly but ring removal does nothing but NOISE.

I have had my 2004.5 3 weeks now and I have noticed the black on the bumper also. I drove my 2001 for 2.5 years and it did not make the bumper black even with the Edge EZ in the 3 position. I was think about getting the dealer to look at to see if it was runing too ritch, but I have not taken it in yet. I was waiting to see if the rumor about the software problem was true and to see if Dodge would find a fix for the low fule milage. I am leaving on a 635 mile trip on Friday pulling my travel trailer, so it will be interesting to see what it does on the interstate.

Exactly......... when a bumper or tip turn blue, it means it has been WAY hot.
