Diff and Xfer case fluids

Going to change the front diff, rear diff, and xfer case fluid. Any tips? What type of fluid do you use?

ATF+4 is fluid of choice for xfer case.
GL-5 synthetic 75-90 is choice for diffs.

Do you fill them up to the fill hole?

So did the 11 1/2 w/ limited slip come w/ a Trac-lok or a Trac-Rite™?

The anti-slip in ours is said not to require limited slip additive. I talked with a guy at Redline about whether I needed their NS (no limited slip). He said this application doesn't need the additive, but running the regular stuff with additive wouldn't hurt anything, and is actually more slippery.

On some of the rear covers there's "fill level" and a line stamped in the cover, around 3/4" below the bottom of the fill hole.

Also, although the book calls for 30 ft/lbs cover bolts and 24 drain plug, I don't run mine that tight. There have been several threads about breaking the bolt.

Also, the gasket is reuseable.
