Diesel in Oil

I have just over 36K on the engine. Noticed coming home today the truck was somewhat sluggish. Got home and it smelled like diesel was spilling. Looked underneath and oil was EVERYWHERE. It was spilling out of the crankcase breather tube. Checked the dipstick and it was WAY high. Smelled strong like diesel fuel. Had it towed to the dealership. They will look at it in the morning. What can I expect? Injectors? How about damage to the engine?

Thanks for the input...

Brian

Injectors, if they hang open they overfuel and fill the crank with diesel. What you can expect, is alot of cleaning as dodge will not clean it up nearly enough. And if I were you I would change the heck out of the oil and oil filter when you get it back to clean the diesel out. As it is now ULSD everywhere I have heard it can be ruff on bearings, and other internals. Best of luck. Rye.

I would change the oil twice at about 200 mile intervals just to be sure you get the diesel out and anything that it cleaned out of your crankcase out as well

What they said, and MAKE SURE you remove your nerf bars, gauges, spray in liner, and your other non-engine related aftermarket items or the dealership will say that's what caused the injector failure.

Just kidding - I hope.

yeah, your injector washed one of your cyls out and filled the crankcase with #2. Hopefully it didnt melt a piston, if you were driving it home and it was only sluggish, odds are your ok...either way, your warranty will cover.

They tell me the #3 injector has leaked fuel into the crankcase. they don't know if there is any damage and don't really seem interested in finding out. How can I pursue this? A friend suggested getting an oil sample to see if there is any metal shavings in it.
I change the oil way too often, like at 3500-4000 miles, I have about 2500 on this change, so other then the fuel it should be clean.
What say you??

Thanks
Brian

Have them fix the problem and change the oil. Run it and see. You have the failure on paper, so if it`s a problem you`ll have that as a starting point.
If you have all your receipts from oil and filter purchases/changes your covered for bearing failure.
Or you can pay to have the oil pan removed and pull all the main and rod caps for inspection. I would run it and see myself. Diesel is clean and it sounds like you found it quick. The odd`s are 50/50. Your truck = Your call... Hope this helps.

A quart sample of that oil they will be draining out would be nice. Give you an idea of the dilution. Maybe even for an analysis.

I think a UOA is called for in this case. Be safe and spend the $20.00 and find out what you can from the oil.

Got a call back from the service guy today. Guess what...Even though yesterday I offered to pay myself for the oil sample, they claim they already dumped it, but of course they didn't tell me that until today ! I'm out of luck on it. They also say that Dodge has the injectors on backorder and no delivery date given. So my truck sits and I have nada!
I don't know if there jacking with me, or just a communication issue within the dealer. I'm kinda friends (our kids have played sports together) with the service manager, so I'm calling him tommorrow.

Since they're backordered:

a) are they giving you a loaner vehicle, and
b) maybe you could tell 'em that since they can't get you stock ones, they should buy you a set from Don M. !!!
