I bought my truck, got the last one painted, bought my last set of tires and got my truck's last alignment, go to work, go to the mall, to Wal-Mart, to the diesel pumps, to Shoneys, to Arby's, McDonalds, Zaxby's, Western Sizzling, Subway, Captain D's, my doctor, my dentist, my tax preparer, and my cable provider, all within a mile of where I live.

I know when my injectors are sooting up because it begins to sound like four marbles rattling in a tin can. Then it's time to take it out for about 50 miles at 70 or 75 mph.

Would I tell you not to get the truck you want? No.

What a bad example I am. Then again, sometimes I do ESCAPE.

Let's look at the worst that will happen , the engine may only go 500 thousand instead of a million miles , you may have some extra warranty work because of injectors sooting up and that is all I can think of . In the plus side you will be driving the best diesel made and you will actually see a three year warranty ( most of us get 36000 in one year) .Bye it get the extended warranty and let the dealer and Dodge sweat the little stuff !! I personally don't think you will have any problem doing what you want to do . I was told for years don't get a diesel tractor for around the barn yard all you do is start them up run them for 15 minutes and shut them off and that is all most guys use now with very little trouble . What have you been driving and shutting off after a half a mile drive and how has it held up ?

I don't see why a Cummins would not hold up as good as a Ranger the only problem is going to be the battery not having enough time to charge up . Yes you will get more engine wear because of the short runs and fuel economy will be awful and the starter and alternator will be taking a beating but if you want a Cummins get a Cummins . None of those things will give you any trouble for years and maybe never . If I was doing this I would look a lease our trade it in every couple of years but I don't even see that as being necessary , just that at the low miles you put on you would not get hurt bad on trade a in .
