Did it to myself....

I have just put 35/12.50/18 toyo m/t with 2" Lorenz HD springs. I wrapped those tires around driv tremor wheels with a backspacing of 4.53 inches I believe it is.......... yup your all sitting there cringing from the rub sounds coming from the front end of me truck. I LOVE the way the truck now looks and handles, recommend the coils from lorenz..... that is the way these trucks SHOULD look. But I am sure there are others out there that have done similar duh things as I have just done, what are my options for lessening the rub??????? Trim inner fender wells??? Trim the bumber??????

Please shoot some great ideas at me so I dont feel so dumb......
thx

different wheels with proper bs and offset! if not, fender trimming will be in your future- just be sure that trimming the fenders will do the trick or else you'll have trimmed your sheet metal and still need to get new wheels!

that is why i went with h2 rims.(powder coated them black) they are the perfect back spacing for our trucks. from what i have found, there really isn't too many after market rims with the "correct" back spacing for our trucks

no fun in ragging you about it- and unfortunately, there aren't too many choices to make it fit.

After researching wheels/tires I decided to go with the H2 wheels for my 35's to avoid where you are now. I did not want to cut the fenders.

I suppose you could buy longer lug nut studs and space them out if that's what you need for inner fender clearance, but that could possibly get you troubles in the outer fender clearance. Your only other option is to lift your truck to get the clearance you need, or do a body lift of a couple inches. Going to 12.5" wides makes for some tough decisions and big-time changes.

Good luck with getting it the way you want it, the 12.5" wides DO make for a nice stance and appearance. Maybe there is someone here that has gone through this process an can chime in with what they did, but I would bet it will be a lift of 4" or so.

you would probably lose that bet. my 17x9's with 4.53" bs with 35" toyo m/t's didn't come close to fitting with 3 1/2" of lift. solution- new wheels with 5" bs and pos offset.

Another option might be to drop to a 305 in tire size. I had ordered a set of wheels with a 5 1/4 backspacing and was sent 4 3/4 by mistake. Long story short I mounted one tire to see what the clearance would be like and the 305 looks ok with that offset. I am also running the Lorenz leveling kit.
Heres a pic of the clearance.

Tire is a 305/65/17 BFG Mud T/A KM2
Wheel is a 17x9 4 3/4 backspacing

Also, you shouldn't have any problem selling those Toyo's

How much smaller are the 305's, i just took 295 toyos off of it, I would love to go two more inches in the front and two inches in the back and keep the 35's, but then i run into the problem of my fifth wheel camper. Since I am on my third front bumper in 32000 km I am not scared of pushing the front diff ahead an inch or so to clear the back fender wells and cutting the front bumper as I am sure I will have another TOUGH PLASTIC bumper before the end of the life of the truck. Has anyone out there tried this????? I love the way it looks and handles with the Lorenz Coils.......

i had same problem and had to just go with the 4" in front and 2" block in rear, if thats what you really want then i would say LIFT the fifth wheel, on some of those you can just do the axle flip and they will clear the trucks with big amounts of lift.

According to a tire conversion chart ....

305/65/17 = 32.6x12

I see that your running an 18" wheel, unfortunately with that size wheel I think the 305's might be harder to find.

Another option might be some adjustable control arms, but that still might not be enough to clear 35"s with a those wheels. Check with Carli and see what kind of #'s their adjustable arms will give you.

I agree with you that the truck looks much better and handles much better with Seans coils in the front, has a more of a "proud" stance and it took out some of the washy feeling from the front suspension.

Yeah doesn't longer control arms help keep it from rubbing in the rear.

FWIW, I think you'll need new rims ... Maybe tires will help though.

Does anyone know for sure if I get longer control arms and am willing to trim the front bumper and inner fender wells, if it will actually work thru the whole cycle of the suspension, with the wheels turned and any angle???? Keeping in mind that I will never use the full cycle i dont think anyways, just normal driving, Canadian Oilfield that is.........

I think your best bet is correct wheels with the proper backspacing. It is sad that so many places will sell the incorrect wheel for these trucks. There is a post almost every day on the subject.

Ok, done with that rant.

Not sure how much rub you have, a pic would be cool. Then I could comment more on it. Most of the control arms only move the axle forward 1/2 inch. Not sure if that is enough.

I ended up trimming my fenders to fit 37s with 3" springs. I went through a couple different sets of wheels as well. All with the correct backspacing. Here are a couple pics of what I did.
