Got my Donaldson 51" today but they shipped a DONM090544 which has a restriction in it. Will this work as well as the one without the restriction. If not, how hard is it to get the restriction out? I need to get this done in the next couple of days so I can leave on a trip. Any suggestions appreciated.

Did you look up the muffler on Donaldson's website. It flows 1158 to 2006 at 1-3 in of Hg.

 

The M90544 is the 51" with 4"in and out muffler. It does have the perforated baffle in it. It is in the shape of a cone and many have taken progressively larger pipe and pounded it open, more or less. I used a air cutoff wheel and cut it out. It was a PITA, but only took about 45minutes to do. Some have just left it in since the flow numbers are great with it in place. If you search on here for that part number you will find threads about the baffle.

Well I installed the Donaldson 51" today and is it ever nice. The DW wont have a word to say about, because she won't be able to tell the difference but I can. I also put in the amsoil EaA 179? filter. I had already installed a four inch hose to the bottom of the air box so now we are moving lots of air. I noticed an improvement in mileage when I modified the air box so now we will see what all 3 changes make on the economy and performance. I have to go out of town Sunday so I am hoping for nice things. I would like to see another half mile per gal or something like that on top of what I got when I modded the air box.
