Hi, I'm not only new to this forum but also a new Ram owner. My first diesel so I have a lot to learn. Only have 500 miles on the truck but since it was manufactured in May 06 I am going to do the first oil change at 1500 miles. Also I like Valvoline oil and since it is the choice of Cummins I think I'll use Valvoline 15W40. Also, any arguments against the Mopar oil filter? Our local Shucks store has K&N filters @ $9.95. Since they have a nut on the bottom for easy removal I might go with that. Any comments are appreciated. Happy Trails!!
man, all of my trucks have always seemed to run better after an oil change... I swear they've got feelings and a personality... you show 'em a little love and they seem to run better. can't explain it, I'm sure it's just a placebo, but it sure feels real!
Seems to run a bit quieter with fresh oil, don't notice it running smoother.
If the filters aren't fluted I'll use a small Craftsman strap wrench, otherwise a modified Geno's end cpa wrench; put splits in the sides of the wrench with a hacksaw blade, put hose clamp on the outside, and tightened it until it just fits on my fluted filters.
