diagnosing my own engine noises
diagnosing my own engine noises
After reading that everyone has the noises I decided to look a little harder for some. The ticking noise is not noticable on my truck, but the #1 injector line coming out of the front of the junction casting gives a pronounced tick when putting your finger on the line. No other lines do this on my truck. The growl/vibration at 2000 up is most fierce when I put my hand on the powersteering pump itself. When I have my hand on the alternator bracket which is cracked by the way I can feel a vibration that comes and goes in a rythm manner that happens with most machines that rotate at high rpms. The thing that I hate most is the growl in 2nd gear when letting off the throttle and when idle takes over to keep you moving sounds like it is being lugged but that's not the case. I also have a plastic empty cup sound in my dash somewhere and cannot fine that sob anywhere. And of course my doors sqeek by the door locks on gravel roads just like a chevy interior. While am on the cons that electronic foot pedal bs drives me crazy when taking out in the morning in 2nd gear about mid throttle and just feathering off the throttle and the mf drops down to idle and my head almost hits the dash causing a few choice words ha ha. I like my truck though and with 19000 miles my fuel mileage has been good and mechanically sound so far. It is a pleasure to drive for sure.
Re:diagnosing my own engine noises
That "plastic cup sound" in the dash area could be the black cowl piece. Mine rattles like crazy, depending on speed, and wind direction. I dont know if yours has the same rattle, but I thought I would mention it.
Cat Cracker.
Cat Cracker.
Re:diagnosing my own engine noises
Get some sylicone spray and spray all the weather stripping around the doors, that should take care of the squeeking sound. Do the window channels and that should help the motors stay good also. I can't spell either ;D
