A factory flash does not reset the mileage stored in the pcm................Nor does the moss act protect against warranty issues when increasing power, only like type parts with different mfgs not performance enhancements.

Exactly. If you truly have not modified your truck, then you have this guy to thank. Truly disgusting.

How would a downloader or box change your mileage? I could understand larger/smaller tires effecting your odometer, but how does the ECM compute mileage?

So lets do a bit of math, shall we?

Old flash a while back says 38,xxx miles.
New mileage says 42,304

Old flash + new mileage = 70,304 + xxx
Odometer currently shows 73,936.
Just a few % difference.

Not difficult to believe the old flash erased the mileage now is it?

Downloaders typically ( o.k. Smarty not included! ) erase key cycles and can affect SCI mileage written to the ECM. I have never had a Dodge of any kind erase mileage when doing a factory flash. Not saying it couldn't happen, just hasn't happened to me.

38,xxxmiles, plus 42,304 = 80,304 Not 70,304 ........

Actually my dealer knows that i run a smarty cause I go to the drags with them. The new general manager had a diamond man come check it out and the dealers diesel tech called me and told me to tell them to prove that I had a programmer on my truck so i did!!

Who cares if you have a Smarty. Your dealer sees you drag race and you still expect to have it repaired under warranty? Bone stock and you take it on the track you can kiss your warranty good bye. Racing is a little outside of normal use and service.

Well I may be dating myself but in the old days you could change the carb, cam and various other mods and still get warranty. Now they void your warranty if you take it out of your garage.

At a few dealerships locally i know of several cases where someone had aftermarket exhaust and a chrome tip installed on thier 6.7 and an air filter and they now own a 5k mile un-covered ticking smog bomb.

Good luck, they can claim all they want, they still have to physically prove.....a malfunctioning computer doesnt prove anything
one of the diesel techs at my dealership showed me a similar memo from dodge- several years ago! d/c has been issueing these memos regarding intake and exhaust mods for a long time, and it's up to your individual dealership as to how far they want to go to enforce it.

this is not a war. I have not used a downloader on this ride at all, period. I do want a few opinions about the statement above. yes cummins did not build it that way I know.also know it should not be covered if it has a tst, not the point. but in reality what is the tst doing to the injector that is was not designed to do? it opens it and allows it to close, just at differant time correct? I can see voiding the warrantee on the engine for damage but the injector, it was designed to open and close right? timing has no ill effect on its function. or am I missing something? this was just a thought I had last night.

A programmer does the same thing. It holds the injectors open longer as well.
What do you think is the difference between a programer and a box?

Really, if I were you, I'd be nice to them, and just go to another dealer.
If you are a jerk to them, they will red flag you on the computer, and you won't get warrenty service from any dodger dealer.
Many dealers when they see something like this, they just mark it on their local system.

Yes injectors open & close, but think about it this way-your engine has a redline of say 4000 rpm-you can run it for short periods at that rpm & be ok-but run it close to redline for a long time & its not going to last that long

So, you are a few days into this, have you made any progress with getting your warranty issues and arguments in order with your dealership? Have you returned to them and asked for their proof that underlies their denial? Have you contacted/involved Chrysler in this matter?

I took my truck in as is with the mods listed (just removed the xzillaraider box) when it was leaking antifreeze. They warranty the work and I paid a 100 deductible. Then 4 months later they credited the credit card I used and I still don't know why but I am not asking any questions. So like everyone else says it is really who you take it to if they are still gong to honor the warranty.
