Hi, I'm new here and I'm looking at buying an 03 Ram 2500 that has a 47re. It is all stock with 62000 miles. What should I look for as in parts breaking, transmission etc? How good are the47re?

Any help will be appreciated.

 

Welcome to the forum. First of start with the basic's like looking under the truck for any leaks check fluids etc. As for the tranny some are bad but then they're are guys that have gone 300k+ on the original. When test driving, drive it all different traffic condition(in-town, highway) and see how it shifts. Shifts smooth and has good power go for it.

 

Would this be a good daily driver?

 

What type of rear end does it have 3.73 or 4.10? Either way both will be pretty good 3.73 you'll get a little better fuel mileage.

 

It probably has the 3.73. What are some common things that break on this model?

 

I think they might have had injector issue but not sure on that. They're is one good thing about buying an 03' is that 5yr patent is up on all the cummins, bosch, and dodge parts on that model. Thus making parts alot cheaper.
