Thumbs up Dealer Oil Changes

I'm not sure if this has been talked about here before or not but here goes.

I was at my local dealer where I purchased my 2003 2500 5.9L HO a few months ago when I learned something I thought was unbelievable. I had taken my new truck in for my free oil change and while waiting I began talking with one of the salesmen. He asked my why I didn't purchase the Chrysler oil change package when I purchased my truck. I told him I was unaware of such an offer and asked what it was. He told me that I could purchase 12 Diesel oil/filter/lube changes for my truck for $250.00 . I was stunned since that service is normally 80 bucks at my dealer. He then told me it could only be purchased with a new vehicle and it was also good for gasoline vehicles (100.00 for 12 changes). Well, of course I talked them into selling it to me. When I received the packet in the mail from Chrysler it stated that these could be purchased at any time for any Chrysler vehicle.

I thought I would share this with everone, I'm sure alot of people out there wouldl like to get an oil/filter change for the CTD for $20.80 each. I can get more info if anyone needs it.

I sent you an e-mail Terry but also desided to list the information here for others s well.

This is a DaimlerChrysler Maintenance Care Service Contract. It is good for 6 years and 12 changes, total cost was $250.00 plus tax. They also have smaller amounts available, I chose to go with the larger number since I'm keeping the truck for at least 5 years. The plan number is #ECD612L.

This is a quote from the booklet:

"Eligible Vehicles: All new or used daimler chrysler, G.M., Ford and Import vehicles equipped with diesel engines (excluding viper, prowler and all other vehicles that require synthetic oil). Plan may be purchased at anytime from any participating daimler chrysler dealership."

I'm sure that the plan for gasoline engines is similar in the wording. Reading this indicates to me that any vehicle made by the big 3 and all imports are eligible for this and this can be purchased anytime. Great deal!

The only draw back I can find with this is you have to go back to the same dealership for your service but if your dealer goes out of business you can request a new dealership from Chrysler.

The dealer I bought from includes free oil changes for life. I thought that DC had made that the standard. More and more manufacturers are including maintenance with the contract. I just got my 3rd or 4th free change. I lose count when I don't pay. The downside is you have to do all the schedule B maintenance with them. The tire rotation was $30. That's all I've paid at 12k miles.
I have to pay for the schedule "B." Still not bad. It's at the dealer right now. I left a red fluid stain in my friends driveway while dropping off his boat. Might be tranny might be PS fluid. Either way it's warranty. The tranny looked like it was seeping a little. Something up front was actually spraying fluid. This time the problem hit at the end of the trip. I do need it for the weekend though. Heading to the mountains.

I got the lifetime oil changes also when I purchased my truck. I just stop off at the dealer on my way to work (0700 hrs) and I'm outta there in under 30 min's. The guy that changes the oil, always comes up front to ask me if I want him to look at anything else. Great service from a dealer.
