Dealer Price Changes?
Dealer Price Changes?
I just placed and order after a quote over the phone of going under invoice. As the deal was closing I was told that the invoice price to order a truck had gone up about $300.

Is it true that the 03 invoice price would go up during the year or did they pull a fast one on me? How would I be able to tell the truth?
Report to moderator Logged

Re:Dealer Price Changes?
I worked for a dealership in Oregon. The invoice price is the invoice price. I would ask to see the invoice. Take the sticker off the side of the truck and have them build it out of there book that is invoice price. You must include all the options. Hope this helps.
Scooter
Re:Dealer Price Changes?
I have ordered 2 trucks in the last 3 months. The base invoice price did go up $250 between the 2 orders. However, once your order is placed the invoice price is locked in.
Re:Dealer Price Changes?
Thank you,

What sales had done was say they could give me invoice minus 1%, minus rebates and used and existing truck invoice to qoute price. When I built the truck he said that the invoice on the new truck was $300 or so more than the older truck that he had taken the invoice off of so I guess this is all on the up and up.

The price on the date the order was accepted by is a legally binding contractual price.

In most states verbal agreements between the customer are not binding unless there has been a deposit made and the purchaser has a witness to the agreement. Get it in writing by by a representative authorized to sign contracts for the dealer and place your deposit, It is then a legal binding contract. In many dealerships the salespersons are not authorized to enter into contracts. That is why they pass you off to another person who may try to renegotiate with you. Know with whom you are dealing. ???

Since buying a $30K-$50K vehicle is a major financial commitment in most person's life, it is amazing how so many know so little about their legal rights and responsibilities in the transaction.
