I got the word today engine was dammaged.will cost them 7000$ to replace. Not sure if this meant new engine. There offer is take my truck in trade at KBB ang sell me one of there trucks at invoice meaning I will loose my A&& on my truck. The 2 trucks they have on the lot do not have all the optons like mine does such as Big Horn pac, U Connect a must when driving a stick, and a few othe little things. They will throw in a Jake brake give me a newB@W gooseneck hitch. On top of that they will replace me engine any ways and still sell it for more than they gave me for it. to me it still sounds like a win win situation for them.

I just looked up my 2005 Truck and Private party KBB is almost exactly what I paid for mine... And Ratial KBB is more than I paid for it...Trade in was about 4K less than I paid.

I did get a really good deal on mine but check it out.. You may not wind up comming out to bad in the deal.. Especially if they include the current 0% financing incentives they have right now..

Have them work out the new deal and see what you think.. You could always have them order a new truck for you and let you keep the loaner till it comes in..

Maybe try crying in the GM's office because you have become so attached to this truck )

$7k sounds about right for their price on a new engine from dc. a straight engine r&r isn't too much technical work for a dealer mechanic. if it were me, they would be putting in a new engine [and what ever accessories you can get from them] and paying for a rental/loner until the work is all done..

Maybe the guy that changed your oil will help install the new engine. They are on the hook for the engine plus inconvenience. You have no obligation to accept any deal they offer, you are in the driverseat. Just get a new '06 just like you had even steven. That will help to minimize your emotional trauma. I hope it works out for you.ks

I would also consider that with them replacing the engine it will contribute to the depreciation of your vehicle. May not make sense but people want the origional engine in used vehicles they buy. A guy I worked for had a Beetle Diesel that Pep-Boys screwed up and over filled his crankcase. blew his engine four miles down the road. They paid for everything. When he went to trade it in later on he took a severe beating on it.

The only thing I'd accept from them is either a new engine in the truck you already bought or they go out and buy you a brand new 06 with every single option that you want on it. They have no room for negotiation here. They screwed up, they must pay. If they don't like that deal tell them that your lawyer will be calling them. If that doesn't work, get the GM and tell HIM that your lawyer will be calling. Don't settle for anything. Whether you get your truck back or a new truck, make sure that it has every option that you want. Do not let the dealer BS you into settling because you'll never be happy. Take these guys for a ride.

yes this is true but when you go to the dealer and pay they are supposed to be professionals and you should get a professional job which means double and triple check everything

You should not have to pay a single penny. do not settle for anything less then you had. They need to repair your truck properly (new motor which they are willing to do and if you are happy with it) or replace the truck with your correct options at their expense no trade in c**p. Their mistake, their problem, their expense. Yes it was a mistake, but thats what insurance is for.

Their liability will pay for the new engine. So they are not taking to severe a beating for this, maybe a rate increase, but not much. If this is what they detroyed; "05 Quad Cab 3500 4x4DRW 6 Speed Big Horn pac, U Connect a must and a few other little things. ", then that is what they need to replace it with. If they have to order an '06 to do it then so be it. They should set up your financing just like you had it on your '05. If you were paying $400 a month for 5 years, the new truck needs to be $400 a month for five years (just an example). No more, no less. They should put you back just the way you were before you entered their dealership. This is the minimum that they should do IMO. The Jake brake and the hitch, well that would make a nice peace offering for the inconvenience they caused you. Just like hubmonkey said also, your truck will be worth significantly less even with the new engine in it. You will take the hit later for their mistake. Good luck.

You don't have to lose money because of them. They owe you a new engine, they should provide you with a loner until your truck is ready and they should apologize for the mistake. They have made an offer on a new truck but I agree you shouldn't take a beating. Apples for apples, newer truck equiped the same and you pay the difference, might be O.K. I wonder, if you had GAP insurance, could it be used under these circumstances?

Don't take the buy off, They should replace your truck just like it was when you brought it in, payments stay the same, don't make it easy for them.

you should get a professional job which means double and triple check everything
double and tripple checking things is something the "pro's" don't do as they get paid by the job, not the hour..

at work i get paid by the job, and there are only a few things i will double/tripple check when doing engine work, and pretty much the only thing i double check is conrod and main bolts/studs.. everything else is just done once

[and when doing engine related jobs at work, the torque wrench comes out for the conrods, injector and rocker arm studs. everything else is by hand feel (mains and head hydraulic torque machine used)]

I would go the new truck route. Insist on a NEW truck equipped just like yours with the same or MORE options, at the same price your paying per month for the same amount of term you have left on the note.

You don't want yours back with a new engine. Depreciation. What else will they tear up while putting the new engine back in? Hoses, a/c, scratch your paint?

Tell them they tore it up, it's theirs. Give you a new truck or your lawyer will be in touch. And mean it.

I worked for GM, and we had a customer in for an oil change, and the dude changing it went to lunch and the service mang. thought it was ready to go and let this women take the car without oil. She got 3 miles back to work with it knocking and everything, but the car was OK, and we had to go out and put the oil in it for her at her place of business.Everything worked out fine, but I'm glad it wasn't mine, who knows how many miles were taken off it by doing that.
