hey guys I was wondering about my check engine light. I have an 06 5.9, no after market add-on. Will the check engine light come on if you are needing to change the oil in the truck. I have never really seen a change oil light in my dash but when this happened once about 7 seven months ago I was in that time of needing to change the oil and when i changed it, the check engine light seemed to go away. I am in the time of an oil change again so i was wondering if the check engine light could be notifying me to change the oil. Any help would be great.

 

A 'Check Engine' light will not illuminate when the engine oil needs to be changed. Turn the ignition key forward and back (without engaging the starter) three times rapidly. Watch the odometer screen for a code. If the screen displays 'done' do some more research, or contact someone with some scanner training to dig a little deeper into the issue. Best of luck!
