I just found out the overhead display maxes out at 98.8 mpg. That's what I was getting in the Tennessee mountains.

Cool Real Mpg

I Guess If I Started At The Top Of The Hill And Reset It I Would Get 98.8 Also. Be Real Want A Real Answer Cause For A Bigger Truck I Hear Fords And Chev's Get Way Worse Also Other Dodge Ctd 2x4 Are Getting 15 Or So When You Topoff Your Tank What Does It Say? My Has Gone Up To 816 Really Topoff And Said 816 On 35 Gallon Tank And Drove Home 70 Miles And Still There

I usually get 21.5 hand calculated, and that's driving normal. No hot rodding around. On road trips I have gotten as high as 26mpg. About 850 miles to a full tank, but that was me keeping it around 60 and using cruise.

iI get 21-23 by hand overhead reads 24-27. I try to stay at 68mph on the highway and what i call normal driving (not racing at every light) around town.

Not quite as high as some of the mileage quoted but here in so cal combo freeway/city I pull consistent 17-17.5 mpg.

On a recent trip to the Colorado River and back I pulled 22.5 running no faster then 70. A/C on the entire trip.

These are hand calc'ed and I find the overhead display off about 3% if you reset it each tank and runs off even further if you "let it roll" and compare it back to totaled gallons on paper over a number of fill-ups.

For best results, reset the overhead every tank.

Truck is 100% stock.

Well I'm not as high as some but I'm happy with the number I get. Not in town driving 65 or less I get between 18-20. I don't do very much in town driving so I can't really give you a "city" number. My best ever tank was 21.652mpg and worst ever pulling my camper at 70+ was around 9.799. I log every tank and always fill it till it won't take any more and my lifetime average is 18.316mpg. My last last six tanks average to 19.7 mpg.

As far as other trucks, I had a '99 F250 I didn't log every tank like I do now, but the best it ever did was around 19.xx mpg, I also had a '04 6.0L Ford that averaged about 17.xx mpg.

Weird....I've got the same truck except mines a short bed! I get exactly 1/2 of what you're getting. I don't see how that's possible. I'm talkin grandpa driving will net me 12.5 mixed. I NEVER EVER EVER get over 400 miles before the light comes on. Why can this be? I swear I'm the king of low mileage vehicles....everything I have ever owned get 12.5 Miixed! Toyota's, Fords, Chevys.

what volume of fuel do you put in the tank?

thats seems way out of line, unless there some major mechanical malfunction causeing the poor mileage. I'm curious now.

Big difference between an 04 and an 06. If you are only getting 12.5 mpg then something is wrong.

Question mph

i dont my gears but may be there is the difference .can it be u only drive in town. i drive a mountain road up n down then on the flats try to drive between 60 and 68 . how many miles are on your truck cause my truck started getten better mph around 50k when my engine was broke in fully . i try to let the torque move the truck instead of power such as letting the truck start rolling at the red lite to get moving just that much so i dont have to stab it to get going . my truck is a short bed and a HO .that is very strange (filters have a big play in diesels )

.
Most fill-ups are 29-30 gallons and add 1/2 bottle of Marvel.

Truck has 39k on it and it's all mixed driving. I think the city mileage is what's killing me.

i'm in the same boat as you same miles on truck if i hand figure my intown if lucky i get 14mpg, never ever seen 20 + on highway . at best maybe 18.5mpgs.(thats with smarty settings) worse if stock. I always ask if there is a flash for this but there is not. i also wonder maybe the valves are off adjustment if that could net bad mpg's. i wish i knew how to check them and adjust them, also scared i might mess something up if i tried!!
