Creaking and moaning clutch pedal
Creaking and moaning clutch pedal
Alright I did a search and found the answer was either replace the master cylinder or lube the pedal pivot points.
Lubing the pedal pivot points has done 0 for me. I now have a slick pedal, messy carpet, and grease everywhere.
Nothing like lube overkill.
That being said, Do you guys really believe the master cylinder is going out?
Thanks!

I have the same exact problem on my 06 w/34k on it, and have had it fixed once already. The first time they replaced the slave/master cylinder at 14k, and seemed to fix it, the paper work says nothing about replacing clutch assembly in cab, which is where i beleive it is coming from. If you stick your head down around the clutch pedal and push it in and out, sure sounds like it is coming from the pivot points (nice plastic parts dodge has provided). I don't know though, it seemed to be fixed the first time, but now 20k later, same problems, and the clutch pedal sometimes is harder to push in and release, almost sticky. I will be taking mine back in the end of the month once one of my other trucks frees up, and before warranty goes out to get it fixed again. Will keep you posted.
huh...mine does it too...although sometimes when you fully depress the clutch it makes a kinda pop/klunk sound...knida sounds like the master but is seems to work fine...for now???

Thanks for the replies! I have a long trip to make about 600 miles rountrip and when i come back I may bring it to the dealer. I am pushing 31K now.
MikeyB,
Do you use silicon grease or silicone spray? When you say shaft, do you mean the MC shaft or the shaft that the pedal uses as a pivot point?
I have sprayed a bunch of silicon spray not grease and this stuff usually works it way in things pretty good. It has not stopped this squeak.

Go To Wal-mart
By the white lithium grease in a spray can. There is a little sensor on the MC shaft. Pull it towards you (not literally towards you but towards the back of the truck) Spray grease liberally at the area where the shaft meets the firewall.
For the rest of the story:
My normal silicon spray lube had no effect on the shaft, pivot pin and even spraying the area where the rubber pedal cover meets the plastic.
I seached for MikeyB's silicon spray in Pascagoyula MS. No luck finding it!
So I tried my old favorite spray can white grease. I did one area at a time and it did not stop until I did what was said above.
For the funny side of this story.
I am laying with my back on the floorboard and my feet on the ground in a Wal-Mart parking lot.
My **** cell phone kept rining and I kept answering it. Long story short I had to ake my head out my dash. My head literally stuck.

I have the same problem, it seems to be worse when it gets hotter. Like REB said slide the clutch switch rearward and there is a plastic washer and a rubber seal behind there. Get that stuff lubed up and it gets better. The dealer tried the spay crap (like WD40) don't waste your time with that. Make sure whatever grease / lube you use it is SAFE for plastic and rubber. I used a little industrial silicon assembley lube (consistancy of Caro Syrup) from my old employer. That seems to have done the trick.
