Took my truck in to get the high idle enabled as well as the check engine (PO514 and PO513) checked out. the flashed tsb's 18-003-06 and 18-005-06. so far it has fixed the problem...but the truck now idles at 800 not 750 "for improved charging"

Yes PO 0514 will clear after 40 normal starts and runs with the engine reaching normal operating temps. In fact all codes clear after 40 runs if there is not a real problemo

It's a Chapelle Show reference. The World Series of Dice sketch. One of the funniest things ever to be broadcasted on cable television.

I'm in Northeastern MD, we have the most disappointing climate in the US. I tell myself every winter that I need to be in the Carolina's somewhere.

I believe the criteria for plugging the blocker heater in is based on temperature, not geography. Below 40F and you should plug it in.

Thanks for that tidbit, I was just wondering if he could elude as to the temperature down there that he was plugging in at.

Sometimes geography dictates temperature, no?

it's ~40's or so.

don't matter to me - mama gets cold, she whines.
she whines - my ears hurt

solution: plug the truck in & have it warm for her.

it went away after ~5 key cycles by itself.

TSB 18-05-06....that was the flash they used a year ago. I'm sure they are on a new version. Or I wrote it down wrong and it was a 18-005-06. Either way the problem is gone and the MPG improved.....good luck!

and of course, they did not do the High Idle TSB like i asked....anyways..

got those 2 done, got code cleared,

did reset of overhead, showed 22 mpg on way home....uumm...maybe optimistic, but it will probably come down to normal with more driving.

tks for the data

FWIW, the mechanic said, "yeah, I just took the DRB3 out to every new truck and flashed them all when they came out with that TSB, why make a guy pay that for a truck, then have to come right back in the next day for a SES?"
