A couple of temperature issues
A couple of temperature issues
Had multiple issues pop up yesterday:
1) Engine fan is roaring
2) Water temp is high - about 215. Usually runs just under 200
3) Engine is idling high
Outdoor air temp was about 95 yesterday
So, I'm guessing that there is a sensor that senses water temp and reports it to the computer. If it is failing will it cause the issues I'm seeing? Normally I would think I had a fan clutch failing and a thermostat failing but it seems odd that both would happen at the exact same time.
I'm tempted to pull the battery leads and let the computer reset just to make sure it isn't confused as to the actual temp.
I would appreciate any info or suggestions, Mark

Computer is doing exactly what it should, best check tstat and water pump any coolant leaks> low on coolant possibly. Check for excessive play in water pump I replaced one other day all the fins on pump broken off. Bearing on pump failed causing impeller to hit housing.
Was towing the fiver up I-75 yesterday, 98-99 outside. At my normal tow speed, 63-64 Engine Temp 205-207 Tranny 206-208. Slowed down to 60 mph
to keep it close to 200 for both. Had to drop down to 58 to get both under
200 degrees.
I figure air temp plus 110 degrees for a rough idea on the tranny temp. If the sun is on the front of the truck its worse. Don't seem to mater if I towing or running lite at the speed limit. Air temp under 85 is much better.
