couldnt get in gear!!! now its squealin!!!!

i have a 2007 5.9 6 speed with a dual disk organic face valair clutch along with upgraded hydraulics
on a trip home from corpus to houston i cruised most of the way home without downshifting (because i couldnt) i stopped at a gas station and had to coasted into the pump filled up went to leave and couldnt get it in gear to ....i sat there for a few minutes and pumped it a couple times and it let me put it in gear got her home and parked her till today i pulle dthe slave thinkin it was goin out. it seemed fine so i put it back in and went to drive her and now i have a weird noise coming from the opposite side of the trans as the slave it sounds like squealing its at the very top of my clutch pedal and once im past the top and start to engage the clutch it stops im scared to drive it and i need to get to work i feel its justified as an emergency i can email a sound bite but i cant get it loaded on the forum it tells me its an invalid file

Sounds like a throwout bearing to me but I've never seen a 3rd gen taken apart so I'm not sure what's in there.

I can't really answer that. You may just be the "lucky" one that got the bad part. I'd call Valair and give them the details. If it hasn't been in very long you might convince them to warranty the throwout bearing if that's what they suspect as well.

not true when it starts going bad...

most of the time with a throwout bearing when they start going bad they make noise with no pedal pressure, then as you apply foot pressure (pushing the throwout bearing against the pressure plate) the load on the bearing makes the noise go away...

now when the bearing gets really trashed they can make noise all the time... but by then it's on the verge of coming apart...

I also have a 2007 5.9 with your EXACT clutch Mine makes a noise when you push the clutch pedal down as well. Starts towards the top as you describe. When clutch pedal is OUT quiet as ever. Mine has done it since the clutch was new 30,000 miles ago. Other than the noise it shifts perfectly. No hard shifting like you describe. I would be very very interested to hear your noise and see if its the same. I should take a youtube video of mine and post it up after work. That way you can hear it and compare. Mine has never missed a beat shifting so I never really worried about it. Took it back to mechanic after install and was told it was the sound of the upgraded hydrolics. Thats why a sound clip would be great!

Are all the other parts lining up and seating like they should? Look over everything really good while you have it down. Lay the parts on top of each other like it assembles and move them around to see if you can find something that's out of whack before you put it back in. Sometimes just "studying and staring" at things will unlock the puzzle.
