Could use some advice on selling my truck

Greetings all. Signature truck is now 6 years old. When I bought it I was heavy into skydiving and planning on buying a 30 ft 5th wheel. Was going to travel a bunch and skydive/camp with my buddies...that is until the plane crashed and killed a bunch of them. Long story short, 5th wheel camper was never purchased and I don't jump much any more. I also have a company provided vehicle so I don't drive it much...it presently has 35,800 miles on it.

It's a great truck and I love it, just don't think I need the 5.9...I'm not towing anything...seems like a waste. I'm thinking I should sell it and buy a new 2500 QC LB and just be happy with the hemi engine.

Yes, I know it's blasphemy but this truck should be pulling something for someone who needs it. Truck is completely stock except for mods listed in signature. Research tells me trucks like this are being sold (mostly dealer listings) in the 35-36K range. What say you on a fair price to ask? Thanks in advance.

one good point is your truck is the last year before the ULS fuel requirements.

you can run farm or off road fuel in that.

I recently bought a '08 DRW SLT with 22K miles, excellent condition for $28k. KBB shows a trade in value range of 22-24K and private buyer value of 27-30K for your truck (depending on condition). I you can find someone really wanting a low mileage late 5.9 truck, you may be able to get more. Other than that, local market and how quickly you would like to move it will dictate the price you ask. It's a real pain (to me anyway), but you can reach a wider audience using Auto Trader or Craigs List.

It should sell quickly. The 5.9's were available until 12-31-06 which made them the last of the '07 5.9's. I own one. You've got a rare truck.

Keep it, it won't hurt a 5.9 with you driving it like you do. A new emissions vehicle, yes. Your 06', NO.

Oh, I know that I'm not hurting it, I'm just not letting do what it was born to do. Besides the extra noise and higher fuel price, the one thing that I really don't like about the truck is the weight. I hunt and go off-road on ocassion. The weight of this truck (8,500 lbs) is a disadvantage on muddy or steep terrain. A 5.7 Hemi 2500 QC LB is 2000 lbs lighter at 6,500 pounds. And quieter. I'll put it on Craigslist and Auto Trader and see how it does. I'm in no hurry and have another vehicle to drive.

I think you may be off a bit on several points, but what do I know.

My 06 Mega 4x4 cost me $34,500 brand new in 06. If you can get 25K for that truck you should sell it fast.

Have you weighed your truck? 8,500 is a whole lot for your sig truck.

Extra noise? I suppose. Higher priced fuel? Sure, but you get a lot better mileage too. Put a Smarty jr on that engine and wake it up and still get 22mpg. That Hemi will get 16 - 17 mpg if you're lucky.

The Cummins isn't even broken in until at least 60,000 miles.... My mileage kept going up right to 70,000.

Bummer on the plane crash. Must have been on takeoff or they could have jumped. That really sucks.

Weight correction

Yes, you are correct, my recollection of my vehicle weight is a bit off. I found an old post of mine from the day I brought the truck home from the Line-X and Reese 16K hitch install. I weighed it that day...with a full tank of fuel and me at 235 lbs she weighed 7,580 lbs. I work next to a landfill with a commercial truck scale and have access to it.

If it's clean I would ask around $29,000 because of the low miles.
It's getting hard to find good clean non abused 5.9's. This is the last of the best non emissioned diesel's.

That's about what I was thinking...for a stock truck that's been pampered with that low of miles. Then there's the $7,500.00 worth of upgrades on truck (step bars, 5th wheel hitch, brake controller, gauges, amp/subwoofers, Line-X bed liner and camper shell). And the $1,000.00 worth of NIB parts that are still In the box.

Want to hear somthing really funny?...2 of the local dealers here in St Louis where I went to get a quote on a new 2500 offered me $24,00.00 and $27,000.00 for the truck as is. I said, "yeah right, so you can go sell it for $38,000.00"

The dealers around here offer around $3,000 under blue book trade in value. When they go to sell it they set the price at high dealer retail.

I must be on drugs

I have reconsidered and decided that I must be off my rocker for even thinking about getting rid of this truck...so I'm keeping it!

New torque converter/valve body here we come...then a Smarty Jr.

this is such a sickness...there is no escape

Good choice, I don't think you'll regret it.
