2nd gear is toast. The band will not hold the power so it just revs. Let off and it shifts to drive and away you go. Got the same problem. Transmission is coming out, getting clutch packs rebuilt and a rigid band.

Enough of the flex band annoyance.

Did you replace the front servo and band strut at some point? What band did you put back in? Did you turn the drum down, replace it, or just use it as it was?

But on the other hand I hate paying people I would rather smell like fluid and try.to figure it out myself I mean some of these people that work at these shops should no be allowed to make me a big mac let alone rebuild my trans and I dont have deep pockets to go with one of the 5000 trans

Drum may not have been scored but may have too smooth, like a a brake rotor. You can't turn them much but the glaze would need broke up I think. Especially if the firts banded slipped and burnt itself up.

Did you use the stock flex band or go with a rigid? You have the classis xase of a bad band and you replaced all the bad parts. Maybe something else is leaking the pressure out on the band apply.

Does it go into a cutaway every it shifts to 2nd, just under hard throttle, or ????

I understand about some people only being fit to super size that order.

Lmao!!! It only pops out when I I go over 10 or so lbs of boost with my concrete pump and hose in the bed without the pump its around 15 lbs of boost but once u get to lke 30mph I can ease into it and it holds and then shifts to 3rd I kinda was leaning towards a pressure issue I used a alto brand it looks better than the stock one I thought but like I said I am no trans guy

Will it hold if you manually shift into 2nd and pour the power to it?

Mine is acting exactly like that but it is skipping 2nd. If it ever goes in it just revs. I know my band is toast. I can pull it down into 2nd and it will activate the band but will not hold much if any throttle.

I wonder if the band is not adjusted tight enough and it just isn't engaging?

mine just started doing the same. my tranny has 190,000 miles on it so i am pretty sure it's a different issue...

sorry to hijack, but what band is everyone using in the rebuild, and is turning the drum a common transmission shop procedure?

If its glazed or grooved it will just tear up a new band. Can't turn them much so a lot of times its replacement.

Choice of band is different. Red or stock lining, depends on use.
