Coolant Leak

Started up my truck this morning,3DEG outside, and noticed some collant coming from my truck. Looks to be at the rear off the engine. So off to the dealer it goes. Anyone else had any probs like these?

My buddy just bought a used '06.

Just got it back...turns out the heater hose near the turbo had a loose hose clamp that would leak. 2 weeks ago was a few drips, then last week a 13" puddle!

The small hose TonyB mentioned is one possibility. Also, if you will look on the passenger side of the head, there are some plugs that take Allen wrenches. Check the tightness of these plugs.

If it is leaking from the allen plugs it would be obvious, probably just leave them alone...I just went through this same problem as have many others....it is most definently the small section of hose near the turbo, don' t believe me??? before you start the truck next time in the morning (the only time mine used to leak) touch around the hose and I bet you'll have wet pink fingers. Tighten the two offenging clamps and ur done (actually took me a couple of adjustments to get mine to stop)....be glad you did not take it to the dealer, those monkeys would probably have your head off already!!!! Hope this helps.!!!

It's a rampant problem with those clamps, mine leaked the first month I had it, same place. I didn't see the clamp or fix it myself. Anyone know, is it a worm gear or oetiker clamp?

problem fixed

I took it to the dealer and sure enough it was a hose clamp. They repositioned ansd reclamped it. I would of looked harder my self but with a 3 degree temp this morning i thought i would let them play!

I too had the same problem. As others have said it's probably the hose clamps. tighten mine 15k ago and no problems since.

Same thing with my 06. I just tighten it if it gets leaky. If it gets to bad I am going to demand they replace the clamp with a different model.

I had a small leak from mine that I finally traced to the elbow going into the block from the radiator where the thermostat is housed. I took it to the dealer, and there is both an O-ring and a gasket under that fitting. The O-ring had a tear in it and was leaking by. 25 minutes at the dealer and I was good to go!

Yes, I could smell that distinct "sweet" smell in the cab from the leak.
