Green coolant. That's what's in there from the factory. Do not use Dex-Cool. It's not approved.

You cannot mix green and or pink. It will gel up and cause real problems in the cooling system. After the flush, get as much of the left over out your system as possible. I use an inline flushing T installed on the heater hose to reverse flush the radiator back through the filler neck with a regular water hose. Crank it and warm the engine till the t-stat opens a time or two with plain old water still running to get much of the flush outa the system as you can with the radiator petcock open. Shut her down drain out all the excess possible. Close petcock, get 2 gallons of quality "green" glycol antifreeze, 2 gallons of distilled water and a cooling system additive to go back with when you finish the flush. Piece a cake.

Or you can use the blue stuff from Cummins/ Fleetguard. Supposed to be long life and compatible with any residual green you don't get out.

You could also check out the new Prestone coolant. They say it can be used in systems that use either color. It's called "All Makes and Models". It's also available in pre mixed 50/50.

Fleetguard coolant, distilled water (or get premix) and LOTS of Redline WaterWetter. I use 3-4 bottles of WW in a system the size of the CTD.

Or, if you can afford it, go with Evans NPG+

Hey HOHN,why do you use the WaterWetter? We don't have a Cummins dealer here so I will have to check auto part houses for Fleetguard.
