Coolant Drain Interval

When should the factory filled coolant be drained out?

What is the recommended coolant for the Cummins?

Most of the new trucks come filled with the 5 yr 100,000 mile coolant. Depending on which you reach forst. For me, the 100,000 miles!

Forgot the 2nd part of your question. I believe your 04.5 requires HOAT. Go to the auto parts store and the Zerex G-05 is the best. I believe the Dex cool also says OK for truck 2001 and newer ( Chrysler) and compatible with HOAT requirements. I read that last night as a matter of fact..

My self I would not use any thing that has Dex cool in it in my engine being it's not a Chevy/GMC product, as I've read a few bad stories about it. Only use HOAT coolant that is rated for use in your CTD engine (I've heard that Zerex G-05 is Ok to use but double check to be sure) and only used distilled water, Do Not use tap water to mix in with your coolant.

100,000 miles, or 5 yrs. whichever comes first. Use MOPAR or Valvoline GO5 HOAT Coolant.
