I got Fleetguards extended life coolant for diesels. It's good for 600,000 miles, with an addative refresh at 300,000.

Don't mean to threadjack here but is there a link or a manual on how to go about draining/refiling the whole system? How many gallons are needed?

I just put a 5 gallon bucket under the radiator drain (driver's side, a little blade **** to turn - be careful with it), with a 6 inch piece of 3/8" hose over the drain nipple. Then I drained her down. I got almost 5 gallons out (water pump leaking) then put exactly 5 back in. I opened the thermostat neck and changed the thermostat, so left that open until the motor was full of the new fluid. I then tightened up the thermostat neck and filled the radiator and overflow resivoir. Drive truck to test thermostat and fluid level, good to go.

Thanks. So i'm guessing that you can't get all of the old coolant out so mixing that with new stuff should be fine? Replacing the thermostat isn't needed is it?
