Cool Down Timer

I was looking at the cool down timer than the site sells. Will this work with the Sentry Key System? I wasn't sure if it was a fuel pump cut off relay, or timer? I appreciate everybodys imput on this. I'm normally near the truck but don't want to wait a whole 6 minutes while it idles to cool down (when towing etc.) Thanks Guys. I've only had my truck for one month, so I'm def. new to the diesel world.

Thank you, looks good, i really like the custom version better, I may do that also maybe toss it into the over head, but most likely keep it down low. Do you have the black key or silver key? I'm still wondering if it''ll work with the Sentry key system. Since they say without the key the truck won't run I'm wondering if this system will work or will it cut off when I take the key out?? Any of you Sentry Key guys have the cool down timer. I def. appreciate the help. This forum by far kicks Butt, the others tend to think your stupid cause your new to something

Check out my gallery. I have the silver key. Set the timer, pull the key and walk away. If the emergency brake is released the engine dies. Very pleased with the Cool Down Timer.

What would happen if someone tried to get in and drive the truck??? Would you be able to, or would it shut off??

Does someone make a cool-down device which is based on temp rather than time? It seems kind of wasteful to sit and burn fuel for no reason.

I'm pretty sure the key is required to get the shifter into Drive (at least on autos) But like Sbishop said if the e-brake is release it'll kill the motor, i guess you could drive away but you wouldn't get too far before things started to fry, plus with your truck locked and all that, they'd still have to get in.

BD (NOT Bully Dog) (http://dieselperformance.com/) does and I have one installed on my truck. I love it, I have it set for 300degrees Post Turbo and it works great. There are pics of it on my web page.

cool down timers will work with the grey keys.
i have a remote start on my 03, and it works fine. start truck, warm it up a bit, get in put key in and turn to on , drive on. if the key is not in the ignition, and i touch the brakes to move it into gear, it will shut down. i just had a new key cut and programmed, so i know the system still works as they tested the new cut before and after the program.
the times just keep the hot wires active for a set time after you turn the ignition off.
i think the best ones are set for a certian heat range, but thats just me!!!

SuperGewl,
I couldn't find any pictures of the BD cool-down device on your website or Photo Gallery? Does this device come with a switch or something to turn it on/off and set specific temp ranges?

They sell 2 devices. One connects to the X-monitor. That's the one I have, it uses the Pyrometer input from the X-moniter to shutdown the truck.
The other one they sell, I believe, comes with a Pyrometer or atleast allows yo to hook up your current pyrometer to it t control it.
I'm sorry about the specific pics of it but it's mounted under the dash with the X-monitor control box.
Go to BD's site http://dieselperformance.com/
they have pics and more detailed info.
