common issues with 3rd gens

Ok guys jsut bought an 07 5.9 with 90K miles on it. newest truck i have owned or been around. With every vehicle you have "common" issues or things that typically arent up to the everyday world. What are all the common things that go wrong with these trucks? i wanna be pro active and know what to look for with things that commonly break or wear out early. thanks!

Two things come to mind....

1. Recirc door will break
2. Keep the #4 fuel injector line tight or be proactive and replace it with the upgraded line and clamp

I've done both on mine.

I think the blend door is OK on the 07's, well mine has been so far. What did you have to give for that truck, just curious, kicked around selling mine, sure is a good truck though, mine has 69,000 miles.

#4 injector line, replacement is less than $50.
recirc / blend more of a issue with dual climate control.
Fuel filters, use Baldwin PF7977.
If auto equipped: gut the torque converter anti drain back valve, keep fluid / filter changed regularly, use ATF+4, adjust the bands when servicing, extended periods of idling should be done in neutral.
Air filters use NAPA or WIX deep pleated.
Eventually, maybe, fan hub bearing, idler pulley and tensioner pulley bearing.
Drive it and enjoy

"Does 2005 autos need the tc anti drain back valve gutted? If so how does this help?" .... Yes. Gutting It helps in several ways. It elimates a huge in line restriction. It also elimates the possibility of the check ball sticking in the closed position, as mine did, and cooking your transmission.
