Just found this...Think I'll check it out tonight since the wife has also been complaining of hard starts lately.

I would not be concerned about it.
I have over 356,000 on mine and it has done it since the first cold night.
I also have the high idle enabled and when it does this based on the temperature it lopes. Set the high idle by cruise and it smooths out.

my roomates 05 does it on manual hi idle at 1100rpm. bump it up a notch and it clears up.
on auto hi idle at 1000 it does not do it.
I told him something had to be wrong.... But I guess I was wrong

Mine does it too. For me, though, it even does it when it's at normal idle rpm. It ONLY does it on a totally cold start though and it has done it since I bought it. It stops once I start driving it so I'm not too worried about it. I have had many diesel Rams before this one and none of those did it.
The "Lope" is kind of like a "miss" but it's a consistent one....

Same here. If it starts to lope, I just bump it up to 1200-1300 with the manual high idle and it goes away. 103,000 miles.
my truck didnt start loping until i installed smarty jr. figured it was the 3 cylinder high idle that smarty jr. came with. im not really concerned about it because truck runs great. fuel milage is fine and oil level never rises, if anything it's a bit lower when it comes time to change it.
Mine was doing it too very strange and it became worry some enough that i shut it down one morning. i changed fuel, and air filter while doing my service and it still did it. Then twice it threw a code i read it and both times it was cold battery temp never heard that before i live in manolia tx just north of houston both mornings it was in the low 20's. so i bought DIESEL KLEEN additive it has a cetane boost and improves fuel for cold weather starts and the block warmer cord so i could plug it in. i havent had a problem sence. now im going to get a smarty jr and start using the high idle. hope this helped.
