Symptom:
P0069-BOOST KEY ON RATIONALITY
When Monitored and Set Condition:
P0069-BOOST KEY ON RATIONALITY
When Monitored: While the key is on.
Set Condition: The boost pressure recorded at key on is not within a calibrated range
from the inlet air pressure sensor.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
OTHER DTC’S PRESENT
INLET AIR PRESSURE SENSOR
BOOST PRESSURE SENSOR
INTERMITTENT CONDITION
TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY
1 With the DRBIIIt, read DTCs.
Are any DTC’s present for Inlet air pressure or boost pressure?
All
Yes ! Repair other DTC’s first.
No ! Go To 2
2 Using the DRBIIIt, compare the inlet air pressure (barometric pressure) sensor
reading to the boost pressure sensor reading.
Are the pressure readings within 6 in hg of each other?
All
Yes ! Test Complete.
No ! Go To 3
3 Turn the ignition off.
Install Miller special tool #9022.
Ignition on, engine not running.
Use the DRBIIIt and compare boost pressure reading to the regulated air pressure
for tool #9022.
NOTE: The reading on the boost pressure sensor may be slightly lower than
the regulated pressure.
Does the boost pressure sensor reading increase with the regulated air pressure?
Does the boost pressure sensor reading increase with the regulated air pressure?
All
Yes ! Replace the Inlet Air Pressure sensor.
No ! Relace the Boost pressure sensor.

Basically, when you first key-ON, ECM reads the MAP and Baro sensors, comparing their output at Barometric pressure, which must match in order to accurately control fuel and Boost - one or the other is incorrect, which can be seen with the DRBIII or a scantool - if none available, it's just replace one - if that doesn't fix it, replace the other - OR: swap with a buddy's truck to find the bad one - his truck will give P0069 when the bad sensor is plugged into his truck - and, if you hurriedly drive away, yours is fixed, eh?
