Code P2606

My buddy's 2006 G-56 CTD lit the check engine light but it has since gone away. The code 'P2606' was retrieved. Any one got an idea of what caused it to shoot this code? By the way it was 15-20 below zero when this happened and 20 above when he drove it today and the CEL went off right away..... don't know if the temps had anything to do with it or not? Any ideas?

Well, I got the numbers all fouled up on the post - 2026 should be 2606.... I'm gonna get another cup of coffee; maybe that will help!

Yep ... It was P2606 alright. We took it to a shop with an up-to-date scanner and it came up with 'P2606 - Air Intake Performance'. The guy at the shop asked if he'd been running an oiled air filter since that sometimes plays heck with the MAS but he hasn't ever run one on it. Also, the filter is clean and only has a couple thousand miles on it. So ...... the code's cleared and the truck runs fine ..... who knows ..... time for more coffee!

As to your question of why, is it possible that the filter monitor provides this code and it's spring is weak? Some have posted that their turbo will pull it into the yellow or more on WOT even with a new filter. And there could be a minor fault also. Check and/or reset the monitor and then run it at WOT and see if it moves (its a latching mechanism).

All in all, I don't think you have any serious issues.
