clutch slipping at 30k??

I noticed the other day while on a slight freeway incline towing 15k that if I floored my truck in 6th gear, once I reached about 2000 rpms the tachometer would jump up to about 2300 for a few seconds and then drop back down to about 2100 and then go ahead and slowly accelerate normally. its like when it really got into the power "sweet spot" it slipped. I could even hear the motor rev higher when it did it. is this at all normal? I only have 30k on the truck and am not a "hot rodder" and know how to drive a stick. that's all I have ever had. anyone else who tows ever had one slip a bit like this??

What year is your truck? Do you have the G56 tranny with dual mass flywheel. If so this would be why. I would keep driving it and downshift if you have to romp on it again.

Nope not normal. Does it happen to people with the G56 yes it does. Dodge will not warranty it either.

You running any mods? Mine only did that when I cranked up my Bully Dog, have since put in a stronger one.

well its a bone stock 06 with a 50hp chip. I think its the g56. why would the clutch be more prone to slip with the g56?? and what's a dual mass fly wheel?

Anything over stock will slip the clutch. Mine is still stock clutch with the infamous DMF. I slips empty on 3rd going up the freeway ramp if I'm agressive on the skinny pedal and I only have 19K miles on it. Go with SB DD and not wory about it.

The DMF is a weird looking thing. It's got like springs or something in it to help absorb some of the vibrations. When you do the clutch you'll get a new solid one and you'll hear a little more gear noise from the tranny when you're driving, it'll sound like you left the boot off.
I like the SB OFE, feels like stock without the DD noise and slower shifting.

Strange.

I have 91,000 on my stock original clutch and have grossed over 30,000# towing with it.

I have tried to be very nice to the clutch, although I have been stuck a few times loaded and likely abused it a little.

I have noticed lately that it is starting to get a bit grabby when feathering it backing up loaded.

Mind you my truck is BONE stock.

I wanted a Smary but decided to wait until the original clutch is shot to get as much life out of it as possible.

I don't have anything bad to say about the stock clutch or the G56 setup.

I have 86k on mine with the mods I've got, and it is just starting to slip. I'm going to Floor It in Lawrence, KS next week to get the southbend DD 3250. I hope this will be a good solution for my needs. I'll let you know how it all turns out.
