Clutch rattling?

Hello can someone Please help me? Me and my son just finished installing a new
SouthBend Dyna Max Clutch kit(1947 CON OFE) with flywheel. When we first started the truck the was like a rattling and the clutch pedal seems too soft.
We drove the truck but could not hear the rattling anymore, when we got back home we could hear the rattling again. Does anybody have any ideas on weath
er this is normal or not

Did the clutch disc have metal springs or synthetic solid springs? I had the solid synthetic springs and they ratteled like crazy at an idle. Southbend sent a new clutch disc with a LUK hub with real srpings and it helped a lot.

Don't expect these to be quite or smooth like the factory units. Especially if you replaced a dual mass unit.

I had a new Valair installed last fall on my 2007 5.9 and it does the same, rattles like all get out. As soon as clutch goes in, it goes away. WOrks great. I called and they said to push the throttle to 1,000 rpm. If it went quiet it was fine. And it does exactly that! Hope it helps!
