Clutch fan

Just purchased a 06 mega cab with a 5.9 and 48re. Juice/w/attitude,S&B intake, 5" . Kids were squakin over the back seat on the quad and had to get rid of it even though it was a perfect truck . The M/C has some miles on it however is in great shape . Did the maiden voyage pulling the toys(36' thor toy hauler with a boat attached behind. Dont have a pic to post yet but will soon. Fairly long set up.)
Anyway , the clutch fan seems to to be turning all the time even on initial start up when the truck is cold . I assume this is not not the norm and the fan is toast. Comments please.

Thx. PJ

Fan will turn all the time , its just how much it will lock up & grab air , this is mostly from the viscous clutch types , I think your electric , but I think they also will spin with truck just idling , waiting to see ofter replies on the electric .

Your fan will always turn, but won't begin to lock up until ~230*F, with full engagement by ~255*F. You can't mistake lock-up; it sounds like a propeller suddenly started turning under the hood!

Check for codes since fan speed is monitored by the pcm. RPM and duty cycle of fan can also be monitored with a Starscan. New flash can protect engine from overheat by turning fan on in case of engine temp sensor failure.
Refer to TSB 18-003-06 REV A Check engine temp sensor operation.

Mine also turns when cold but as has been said already, when it finally locks up it really roars.
