Clicking noise when backing up in 4WD LO
Moving trailers around the other day and noticed a loud clicking noise when backing up in 4WD low, without turning, simply straight line. Not always repeatable. I do notice a shutter / vibration when starting out pulling a heavy trailer, I do not know if this is tied to this issue or not.
It sounds like it is coming from the rear brake area, like someone snapping chicken bones - pretty loud and noticeable. Not a fast click.
I believe I also have heard it pulling forward in 4wd Low.
Recently changed all fluids - I did check the rear drive shaft joint when I changed the fluids and I did not notice anything out of the ordinary.
I have to move more stuff around today, I will see if it makes the sound in 2WD as well.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

If it is a U joint, you may not feel any problem unless you unbolt the yoke and drop the shaft so you can flex the joints by hand. Match marking everything is a good idea.
Since it apparenly happens going straight, I'd suspect a drive shaft joint as opposed to front axle.
