cleaning engine and compartment

I used to be finatical about a clean engine on my gas engines but since I switched to the cummins I haven't washed it. I am a little worried about blasting water around the engine becuase I just don't know if anything can be harmed. I do see truckers washing their engines down all the time, so is it safe? If a gas engine didn't start after hosing off I knew what to look for but not on the Diesel.

Shampoo it just like you did with the gas motor.Just dont shoot the water into the alternator or directly at the wiring harness plugs. A clean motor is a happy motor.

I've used a pressure washer on mine four times already. Even on my '98 gasser. You just can't stick the nozzle 6 inches away is all.
