Is there a difference in emissions between 2005 & 2006 5.9L motors. Does a 2006 have stricker emissions. If you had a choice which one would you choose

Only thing I know of is the pistons have different bowl designs and the injectors have a different spray pattern. If I had to chose between 05 and 06 trucks it would be the 06 for the better headlights and other changes to body.

2004.5 to 2006 all should be the same. 2003-2004 didn't have emissions except for the 235hp CARB version.

Honestly I liked the seats better in the 03-04.5 Laramie as compared to the 06, but I like the headlights better on the 06.

I would choose the one that has service records or has been better cared for.

The '05 has a couple of drawbacks. The intercooler has plastic end caps. The automatic trans has a tow/haul selection instead of OD lockout.

06 is a better choice for those reasons.

Don't forget about EFI Live if you decide to tune it. It's only available for 2006 and 2007 3rd Gens at the moment. That's big factor for the performance folks.
2004.5 and 2005 computers are different than the later 2006 and 2007's.
And yes I think my 2004.5 seats are better than the later ones if the truth be known.

I've read the 06-07.4s have e-brake ready autos. Craig

I think that is the 6 speed autos that come with the 6.7 engine.

The 03-04.5 555 HO also seemed to get slightly better mpg than the 600 that replaced it.

The plastic intercooler on the 05 is a valid point.
