Channel locks on fuel filter?

Has anyone ever used channel locks or an adjustable wrench to replace the fuel filter instead of 1 1/8socket? I can't find my socket and don't want to go to the store right now.

I have used channel locks once, but it did bugger up the cap a little bit. Never did it again.

Same. Save it till tomorrow. If you are gonna use a set of channel locks, use a big pair, and wrap it around the bottom of the lid and destroy that. Or, use a hammer and something long on the raised parts of the lid to knock it. Don't destroy the 'nut' for nothing...

X3 on the crescent wrench. I got my first 3 tastes of changing a Cummins fuel filter on the side of the freeway. Crescent wrench did the job and thats still all I use....
