Changed APPS now get code P2127 and have no overdrive......

truck is a 2004.5 dodge ram 2500 2 wheel drive automatic with the APPS ontop of the motor.

Okay guys for awhile now I have been having dead pedal and codes 2121 & 2122 with my truck. I bought a new APPS for it and put it in the truck and it reved up great and went back to idle at home. So I went for a drive but it wouldn't shift into overdrive and giving me code 2127 now. I have adjusted it and played with it and reset it everytime and no changes, I can't even delete the 2127 code it says on.

I did put the old sensor back on and then the code 2127 goes away and overdrive comes back. but the dead pedal is worse with it.

any help is greatly appreciated. I was suppose to hit the road this morning for a family emergancy but still stranded at home.

thanks

Just put the stock APPS back in and the code went away and the light went off. I took it for a drive and also had OD back, but the speedo was acting up n bouncing around some but the truck ran fine. then right when I was headed back home and slowing down for town the light came back on and I could feel the trans kick the torque convertor out and sure enough code 2127 came on now for the old stock APPS...

anyone have any clues what in the world is going on?

I have put in the new APPS back in and only get code P2127 and still no overdrive. other than that it runs great and has excellent throttle response.

Someone must have a clue whats going on? Looked at the speed sensor in the rearend and it had a frayed wire fixed that and so now my brake light and abs light went out but that didn't fix it. replaced the output speed sensor on the transmission and that didn't fix it.

any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks

don't know where U got the apps, but to me it seems U rave a faulty one, Get one from Timbo's, for 2004.5 dodge cummins , I put mine on about 4 years ago, no problem's since. It takes about 1 hour, Follow the directions, U can view it on his sight, Good luck;;;;;;

I find it hard to believe I bought 2 faulty ones from 2 different buyers from 2 different parts of the country. They are the exact same as what Timbo sells.

here is the 1st one I bought
TPS Throttle Position Sensor Fits Dodge RAM Cummins Bell Crank Apps w Harness | eBay

I thought okay maybe I had got a bad one also so I paid even more and got from another seller that sells the exact same one for more and the feedback was excellent on the item for people with the same truck and no issues and here is that one.
TPS Apps Pedal Position Sensor 98 5 04 Dodge RAM 5 9 Cummins Diesel Throtle 59 | eBay

Turned out that it did the same thing as the first one and I would get that code 2127 and no overdrive. So I put the stock one back on and boom that code goes away and overdrive is back.

just dropped the truck off at a shop to hook up to a live scanner to see whats going on. Very suprised that no one has really commented on this

I would check the range sensor on the transmission for ATF intrusion. Pull the connector if ATF come out then replace the range sensor and clean the connector out with brake clean and blow out. Also Inspect the engine to body ground strap located between the left rear of the cylinder head and the left side of the bulk head for wire harness contact. Also check the 14-way connectors at the transmission bell housing for oil in connector or pull out wires. Inspect the wires at the engine wire harness near the a/c pressure transducer for damage or wire insulation damage. Hope this helps
