Changed Oil and Now Have Check Engine Light?

As stated above just performed my first oil change on new to me truck. Nothing special drained pan, changed new oil filter, replaced drain plug, and filled back up with 3 gallons of rotella. Oil level is fine started truck and check engine light is on. What gives? Is this something others have had happen? Any ideas.

Pull the codes by doing the key on-off and leave it on after the 3rd time. Don't start it, just place it in the key on position. Tell us what codes you have.

You could have bumped the wires for the a/c compressor causing them to ground out when you pulled the oilfilter. It can cause wierd codes and issues. Common problem. If you look up at the oil filter from underneath they are between the ground and the base of the filter.

I disconnect the batteries when I change oil for that very reason. Anyone else do that?

Why not? It only takes a few seconds, and then you don't have to worry about the AC connector.

When I got home I checked the codes again. P0111 P0514 P0633 Got the scanner out an cleared the first two but the third has to do with the key not programed right. So it's off to my friendly Dodge dealer.

I had that happen once, right before a trip. It turned out that I forgot to connect the sensor on the air filter housing before I bumped the starter to build fuel pressure (fuel filter change at the same time). That set the CEL, and at the time I didn't have a way to clear the code so I had to let the "dealer" do it.
