Anyone have any problems using a Carqest fuel filter p/n 86585XE? I just got one to install andI'm going on a 400 mile trip.

Thanks

Did you ask if the filter was also a water separator as required by Cummins? My self and many others use the Baldwin PF 7977, its a 5 micron fuel filter, the new Donaldson P550800 or the Fleetguard Stratapore FS19856.

See if you can find the filter rate, at least 7microns is OK. I agree with DBLR.

To the best of my knowledge, very few replacement filters snap into the fuel filter caps.

It's a Wix. Maybe just in a Carquest box.

IMO, If you really want some injector insurance, I'd recommend adding a 2nd filter behind the original one.....preferably 2 micron....to help filter your fuel even cleaner. Then the one in the original canister can be almost any filter, 10 micron or whatever.

I run three: 14-7-2 (micron-rated). The first two are water seperators. Nothing's getting to my CP3/injectors but clean, dry fuel.
