my 2005 makes a "pshht" sound when i turn the a/c on and the compressor kicks on. sounds like the freon escaping for a brief moment like a pressure sound. it's similar to when you take an air tool off the air hose. had it at the dealer twice and they cant find what it is and haven't been able to duplicate the problem. it only does it after the truck has been sitting over night or for a long enough period of time. it's going back tomorrow to check for leaks and they added dye to the system last time they filled it. it is definatly loosing freon because they added some the first time, and had to add more the second time (only a month or two later).. anyone have any idea's?

 

Mine does the same thing, but I do not lose freon. Mine has been cooling for four years without a single problem, even with the nasty clunk sound and air release. Sorry I can't be of more help.

 

Man, you are lucky. I've been in Utah for a month and it is HOT. Been considering fixing the A/C the last few days. The price tag is the only thing holding me back.
