Buying a 300,000 mile /06
I know that's what I've been thinking!! But everything on the truck is clean and it's $8,900.00 so the next 2006 is 20K so maybe spending 5 K to fix something that will be going out soon anyway at a lesser mileage and more expensive truck. What do you think ? I really appreciate your input.
If you buy this truck what I reccomend is the following: Injector Test, fluids change (all fluids; oil to differential), and filters filters change. If anything is seriously wrong then it will be noticable unless you have leaking rings and are gettin blowby like I was. You also have to consider that is a lot of driving for an 06, so you have to consider chasis condition as well as electrical system condition. I had a 94 12 valve that was pushin 320 and the electrical issues on that thing were non stop. After my experience I will never by a used truck again after what Ive been through (3x what I paid for it to have it running). If I were you I would also consider just buying one from a dealer. That way you know they put sometime into making sure things check out.
at that mileage you will probably be replacing something soon.. something simple and expected.. water pump, etc or unfortunately.. something major, like a turbo! at least have the injectors tested. check the color of the tranny fluid! with that many miles and not being the original owner, be willing and ready to put some money into her in the next year or two for any wear and tear items and/or neglected items that will fail

No worries. Take it from me though. I bought an 07 5.9L with 180K in Salt lake. Bad choice to begin with from a autobroker. Didnt take it to get serviced caz i dont drive it much at school. But in december, pistons 1,3 and 5 blew out the block. Since then I have spent ovr 25k for a new motor and fuel system, as well as the inbetweeners. good luck to ya
FWIW - 300k isn't much worse than 150K in my book. Either way, you have a lot of unknowns. May need injectors, trans, clutch, fuel pumps etc. Will likely need lots of U-joints, brakes maintenance etc. I bought my '03 for about $20k a year ago and have another $3K or so in general repairs and preventative maintenance. I think it's still a bargain compared to a new truck at $60k and plenty reliable still at 137K miles for my uses.
I looked into trading it in for a manual truck, but decided I wasn't willing to "start over" on all of the wrenching and parts I've thrown at my truck. I try to look at whatever little upgrades or maintenance I can do when I have a bit of money in my pocket. I know I'll eventually probably get hit with a set of injectors or tranny, but once those get done it shouldn't be a problem again for a long long time.

Yea the issue I have goes back to it is a auto broker sale, and it's more than I can afford to gamble on. I have had all new diesel trucks, but since I had to close my company and get a J-O-B, it's probably left until I can pony up for a lower mile truck with some love given to it !! Haha
Thank you tho
