I've dumped about $5k in mostly parts , little labor into my 07 between 115 and 125k miles, with the truck being impeccably maintained over its entire life and I haven't touched the front end/steering.
IMO, 100k-150 k is where all the ancillary stuff needs replaced. The upside is one shouldn't have to spend a dime on the engine internals, ever really.
So if youre looking at thousands into the engine AND all the other stuff coming up, dump it if you have the means to get a new(ish) truck.

After a rebuild should I be expecting my truck to be extremely reliable? That's all I want at this point honestly. I would even consider getting a new truck if that's what it takes but I would want to be up front about the oil loss issue if I trade it in.

That's really what it comes down to: Should I get a new truck and be upfront about the symptoms of my truck OR take my truck in and fix whatever is needed.

Any thoughts on what you would do?
Up front? I would be hard pressed, unfortunately, to find a dealer who wouldn't fail to disclose known issues when selling a vehicle.

Do a tea kettle test and check the temps on the manifold with a IR thermometer. the thermometer should tell you where issue is
