Angry Blown Intercooler?

Dropped my truck off at the dealer last night, described the problem to the tech, loss of power, only 4-6 lbs of turbo boost and a rushing air noise.
His first question was do i have the plastic one, Yep I do! He said it might be cracked. Won't know for a day or two they are backed up. Truck only has 29K miles on it. I am wondering Ok if it is cracked and they replace it, do I look foward to it being blown in another 29K miles when the warranty is expired!

I've got 65,000 trouble free miles on mine. However I have also heard of problems with plastic intercooler, I guess only time will tell.

Yep, I might be jumping to conclusions here but when the Tech ask me that right off it drew my concern.
I would like to hear from the 06,07 model owners, are they still plastic or did they change them?

if you have a plastic cooler under warranty, they will replace it with an aluminum unit. no worries.
they may not have a metal 1 in stock, and either will make you wait, or put in a plastic until a real 1 arrives. they have done both before.

I have an 06, and mine is metal. I think there was a recall where they replaced the plastic one with metal.

Im waiting on mine to pop

Only problem is, cant really afford the downtime when it does.
I just wish theyd replace them anyway, before someone has them crack(like that would ever happen )

Mine blew on my truck, only took dodge 2 days to fix it. I remember that drive on the way home....Ick. I was sad. Now its metal, all fixed under warranty and no issues. Good luck with yours. When I took mine to dodge and I said that the plastic intercooler was a problem my Rep denied it and said it was something I had done to the truck. Oh well. Sounds like you have better service than Avondale Dodge Haha! Good luck again!

Not sure about this dealer here, first time I have taken my truck to them so we will see. They didn't give me a real warm fuzzy, but then again I am in Calif. folks are definitely different here on the West Coast then the East Coast.

Mine blew last weekend it was a plastic one. Truck has 26000 miles on it. They replaced it free of charge with a metal one. Only 2005 models had the plastic ones all other years have metal ones.

It was the early 05's too. By May 05 they were building them with metal tanks.
