Plastic Intercooler blown pics

Does anyone have any pictures of what it looks like after it happens? I have the plastic one and the dealer has metal ones in and they will not replace it till it goes just wondering what I am looking for?

You hear it more than see it. If you can suddenly hear a defroster like sound when accelerating you have blown it.

it was very hard to see just exactly where my second one was blown. You have the best chance of seeing it with it off. Look at all of the seams and see if the crimp is out of place. I never took pics of my blown intercoolers. Just replaced them, the second time with a banks one to never have the same problem again!!

My truck seems to have developed a sucking sound while hitting the gas, could this be from a blown intercooler?

yes you can hear it with those. I have them and I could hear it. The biggest thing you will notice once you pop your cooler it the smoke. it is black and big, second your exhaust temp will go up right away and stay up. I mean way up. when I popped my second one it was all I could do to keep it under 1400* at 55mph.

The banks intercooler reduced my egt's about 200* when pulling. Now I can't even get it over 1000* even when trying (full throttle, xzt and trailer) In the winter with the flaps all closed running 70 mph I can still cruise at about 600* it will drop down to about 450* when you drop to 60mph or so. In my mind going without my truck for 3 weeks waiting for another stock intercooler was worth the $1500 anyway. regardless of the performance gains in the long run.... But I think it is a little pricey but I will never have to worry about it popping again. Now the only thing on my mind on those heavy long tows it the tranny.
