I'm loosing alot of oil out of my blow by tube with smoke out of my oil cap almost a quart on a 500 mile trip oil all over the trailer I'm pretty sure it's blow by but was wondering is a truck worth rebuilding and does anyone know wat rebuilding one cost it's a 04 the 305 hp motor thank you
In my area I see rebuilts starting at $5000 and up. I've seen good used motors go for $2500. Add on to that the price of labour to have the motor swapped if you can't do it yourself. You also need to factor in other things such as oil, antifreeze, filters, a new water pump(if motor is used), new belt, new clutch(if its a stick and has lots of miles on it).
So now it depends on the condition of your truck and the milage its got.
Might want to get the diagnosis confirmed before condemning it. I had a bad turbo cause lots of blowby on my old 2003.
