Block Heater, easier way??

I'm getting tired of popping the hood every time to plug and unplug the block heater. Is there a way to pull the heater cord out so it is exposed in front of the grill? I'd like to be able to plug/unplug without raising the hood...

TIA!

Not sure how it is on the new ones but mine sticks out from under the hood. Check and make sure it isn't coiled up under the hood somewhere if you haven't already. If the heaters are the same, you may be able to get a longer cord from one of the older heaters. We just put a new heater in my sons truck and it had about a six foot cord on it.

I've got mine looped around the tow hook, where it is easy to reach.

I just popped the cord out of one of the plastic round mounts beside the radiator and re-routed the cord so it comes out right at the right side tow hook. I just stuff the plug into the tow hook when I'm not using it and you can't even tell it's there... Now, if I could just figure out why the plug is so tight plugging in I would be happy......

Mine is between the grille and bumper. Sticks out about two inches, and I can tuck it back it so it doesn't flop around and beat the paint to crap. I don't hafta open the hood either.

Mine rides all winter sticking out from under the hood.

I also use a little zip-tie to hold it in place a little more securely. The zip-tie's main function is to provide some additional reinforcement for those morning that I forget to unplug it.

edit. I'm in my second winter with the truck and I've noticed a little paint scuffing on top of the bumper where the plug has been blowing around in the wind.

I also just have it sticking out under the hood. Have doen this on all my trucks. Never had a problem with it beating the paint or anything. The cord is fairly stout so I don't believe it moves around too much while going down the road.

All 3 generations of these trucks have had a VERY tight plug. Never have figured that out myself.

I ran mine along the fog light harness from right to left and have it zip tied right behind the license plate and bumbper area. I simply reach behind the license plate and bumbpe and pull it down and plug it in. When it's not in use, it's riding on the back inside of the bumper...

Thanks for all the suggestion!! When it gets a little warmer outside, I'm going to try and figure out a permanent resolution to this. I saw over at TDR where a guy moved the plug to the read bumper opposite of the trailer plug. I think I might do something similar but put the plug in the front license plate bracket since I don't have a front plate.
