Bilstein Shock for 04

Bilstein does not offer a 5100 or 5150 specifically for a Dodge Ram 2500
2004.

this is the replay i got when inquiring about part numbers for my 04 2wd short bed QC,

Does any one have the correct numbers for the 5100 series shock? front and rear

That's odd.....I bought some Bilstein for my dads '03 Ram 2500 4x4. I wouldn't see why they wouldn't have them for the 4x2....

The two part numbers were : BE5-2550 - HD and BE5-2549 - HD.

I saw those too, but they said it was for GVW of 8400+. How did they feel for your Dad? I'm curious if I should go with those. My initial feeling would say they would be too stiff....

Thanks...

It looks like schorb is confirming that these parts are in fact going to work for a 4X4 truck. 4X2 truck may have different coil/shock setup?

I would love some of these bilsteins... I had them on my jeep and the were amazing. A little spendy. I'll start saving!

Okay, here we go again. I just got off the phone (23AUG04 0900 Texas Time)

Bilstein phone number 1-800-745-4636 on East Coast. West Coast number is 1800-537-1085.

Bilstein does NOT make a shock for the 03 or 04 2500 4x4 Quad Cab, non-lifted, GVWR over 8400 (diesel engine option) yet! I have called them continously since OCT 2003.

The website information stating the BE5-2549 and BE5-2550 is for an 2003 is incorrect. It's for 2002 models.

The shocks for the 03 and 04 models are in "Testing" at this time and will have a completely different number.

Sorry it took me so long to respond...I was out of the area for a week with no Internet access.

re: Shorb bought shocks for an 02.....Once again, the numbers are incorrect on the Bilstein website...and that info is directly from Bilstein.

Go ahead a buy the shocks if you want. You'll probably find that they fit into the mounts. But, the travel (up & down movement) length will not be correct and you'll end up taking them off...

I'll wait until Bilstein provides me with the correct number for the shocks that will fit my truck! I have been calling them, every month, since October 03 when I bought my 04 truck.

just my 02 cents worth

Sounds good. I don't see how difficult it should be for them to make them already!!!

It is all about demand! The demand for longer shocks for lifted trucks is high even when the truck is brand new. The demand for OEM length shock is low when the truck is brand new because most do not change shocks till the OEM's are worn out....there is probably a 1 1/2 -2 year lapse.
