Bilstien Shocks Question

I just wanted someone else's opinion. Bilstien makes two shocks for our 2500/3500 trucks. One set is for 2500/3500 that is rated for GVWR 6400-7800 and another set is for GVWR 8400+. My truck is said to be 7000 lbs empty. Would the 8400+ ones be too stiff for my truck? Reason I ask this, there is a good buy on E-bay for the latter. Or should I get the ones for 6400-7800. I know some of you have went on and put on Bilstiens, what is your experience? Thanks in advance...

I've got the 9100s with the remote resevior. Not too stiff. You can set them up for your driving conditions by adjusting the pressure. I think mine have 70 lbs.

Do they make Bilstiens for the 2 Wheel drive version of the 2500? If so what are the part numbers? The stock shocks are good for gardening, and thats about it.

I would highly suggest calling BILSTEIN and RANCHO about shocks for your truck. Unless they have recently come out with them, neither of them make shocks for the 04 2500 4x4 Quad Cab with the Cummins Engine. They only make them for a "Lifted" truck, not in stock form....
The 04 is not the same truck as an 03 with regards on suspension parts.

Well, I found that the B46-2129 Front and B46-2130 Rears part #'s will be a direct replacement for 4X4 25/3500 6400-7500 GVWR. Those are the one's I will be ordering. In fact, the Bilstein guy said these fit model years 94-04 (non-lifted 4X4). The important part is the mounts and ratings...

Bilstein shocks are awesome. I will get them when I can afford them. This may be a mistake though... is 02 suspension == 03 suspension???

Okay, here we go again. I just got off the phone (23AUG04 0900 Texas Time)

Bilstein phone number 1-800-745-4636 on East Coast. West Coast number is 1800-537-1085.

Bilstein does NOT make a shock for the 03 or 04 2500 4x4 Quad Cab, non-lifted, GVWR over 8400 (diesel engine option) yet!

The website information stating the BE5-2549 and BE5-2550 is for an 2003 is incorrect. It's for 2002 models.

The shocks for the 03 and 04 models are in "Testing" at this time and will have a completely different number.

Sorry it took me so long to respond...I was out of the area for a week with no Internet access.

I second that. I too called Bilstein about 2 months ago and was given a similar answer. However, when I called they were still in the "design" stage so it seems that the wheels are turning over at Bilstein.
