it mounts under the battery[s] and i suspect it senses an overamp situation.

My check engine light came on a couple weeks ago and it gave me the
P0514-BAT TEMPERATURE SENSOR RATIONALITY error.
It came on as soon as I started the truck in the morning after sitting all night so I don't think there's really a problem. Been running fine since. The check engine light went off the next day but I think the code is still there.
There was another thread on this and it seems to be an issue with no fix yet. Just do a search for P0514.

chip hayden...what symtoms did you have and what did the dealer have to say?

dealer replaced 08142701 as defective [shorted]. i had no symptoms-just check engine light
now i wish i had left it alone. when the dealer brought the truck to me from the sevice area the left side doors are both smashed in at the lower quarter sections. can't wait to see how this is resolved.

Thats a real shame. That just isn't right. Good luck getting it reolved. Its one of my worst fears when dealing with a dealer.

Take pix of your truck before you go. Pain in the **** but save you from bigger pain later.

I've had that code several times this winter. Dealer says there is no fix yet. Light goes out in a couple of days. Does not hurt performance.

I have had this problem twice. The dealer said they would not fix it because the sensor tested OK. A week later they called and said bring it in and they will change out the sensor. Sheesh they seem to have tough time with making decisions

Went on one cold morning, took mine to the dealer and they said it tested fine. Set the same code a week later, ignored it for about 3 weeks. I took it in to the dealer and they changed it, haven't had a problem since.
